Many people believe they get a bargain on something. However, they end up paying more for an inferior item or more for something they can find cheaper elsewhere.
Aldi tries – and most of the time succeeds in – to provide top-quality products at affordable prices to its customers. However, it is possible for a grocery chain like Aldi to fall short or be too much for individual shoppers’ needs.

Side note: Although this article doesn’t mean to make Aldi look bad, I just wanted to voice my opinion on Aldi’s products. Aldi is an amazing place to shop. I also share many positive Aldi experiences.
Aldi does sell your typical selection of toiletries and paper goods, including toilet paper, paper towels, paper plates/bowls, and they’ve got all your basics covered.
It is likely that these items can be found cheaper online or in bulk stores like Sam’s Club and Costco.
Aldi has decent cleaning supplies, but the truth is that they don’t have great quality.
Online shopping or bulk warehouses might be a better option. You will need to make fewer visits to the shop.
Don’t buy feminine hygiene products or razors. You will find better options elsewhere. Aldi has many great and high-quality products, but they are limited in their range of personal care products.
We are all pretty attached to our personal grooming products. Aldi offers a narrow range so you can stick with what you know and love.
Aldi’s seafood tends to be more expensive that other supermarkets (especially Walmart’s), but shoppers also have difficulty determining the quality of Aldi’s products. Aldi is being criticized for not only its unsustainable sourcing practices, but it has received harsher criticisms.
Aldi revealed in 2017 that its seafood was sourced from China. This suggests that North Korean citizens may have been mistreated as workers and large portions of their earnings went straight to the North Korean state.
It should be said, that if you are buying a frozen pizza for $2.19, you shouldn’t be expecting gourmet pizzeria-quality food.
Aldi’s cheap pizza, the frozen thin dough, doesn’t have good taste. Many people who tried it said that it was bland.
I don’t think this is limited to the $2 pie, either. I have tried many Take & Bakes. The refrigerated version is better than the frozen.
For pizza lovers who crave hot and spicy food, you can stop at Little Caesar’s to get a Hot N Ready.
Aldi’s loaves of sourdough are not my favorite, so this might be just a personal thing.
All of them come pre-sliced. This is a great option for shoppers. However, I would like to see Aldi sell some sourdough loaves that are unsliced so I could choose the thickness of each piece or hollow them out to make bread bowls.
Aldi tends to sell a lot of their produce bagged or in containers, giving the shopper less control over what they take home.
Aldi has a produce section that will satisfy those who love handpicking each vegetable and fruit. The majority of the produce is not sold in individual packages.
Aldi offers quality meats at affordable prices. However, their chicken is not always up to par.
Even though the family packs include chicken breasts, it can take some time to trim them. The chicken thighs are the same, if not worse. To get the excess fat out of the chicken thighs, you’ll need to wait at least 15-20 minutes once the grocery bags are unpacked.
It’s possible to skim this project if your time is limited or you don’t have sharp scissors.
Aldi’s affordable pet food can make it tempting to switch brands.
But you’re better off sticking to your current brand, because the Heart to Tail pet food, in particular, is not the healthiest choice for your animals, with corn filler as the first ingredient, not real meat.
Multiple bloggers pointed out that the Cheezit Dupes and Goldfish cheesy Cracker knock-offs aren’t up to par with their brand name counterparts.
Aldi’s Millvale Granola Bars were my first taste. I was surprised by their lack of flavor.
Although I was hungry, the remainder of it went down in my stomach. I doubt that I could have eaten more.
Aldi makes many excellent ground coffees. They mostly sell them under the Barissimo Label. Beaumont, however, tastes strongly of roasted coffee beans.
Aldi sells a small selection of items from name brands at all times. They don’t offer manufacturer coupons and the prices are not always the lowest. You can probably find the same item somewhere else, at a discount with or without a coupon.
Aldi has a fall line of ponchos that I have, however it is not the deepest I would go. You can expect less-than-tailored fittings and in some cases, lower quality.
