may sound like a long way off. But, as is the case with so many things when it comes to babies (except for those middle-of-the-night feeds, of course), time flies, and before you know it you’ll be thinking of what’s on the menu for baby’s first meal.
Making homemade baby food is easy with baby food makers. This is what you should know when choosing the best baby food machine for you. Let’s get cooking!

There are many benefits to using a baby-food maker
This will help you save money. Baby food that isn’t organic or pasture-raised doesn’t cost as much. This is especially true if you opt for organic and pasture-raised ingredients that simply cost more to produce. Plus, manufacturers have to factor in many other costs, such as packaging, factory space and selling to grocery stores. You can make big savings if the ingredients are purchased separately.
Your baby’s diet is known. You won’t be able to tell the whole story if you don’t look through every item on the ingredient list. You shouldn’t be feeding your baby products that contain excessive sugar and salt.
You’re using fresh ingredients. In addition to purchasing produce at the peak of freshness, the steaming process most baby food makers utilize allows for more nutrients to be left in the end result. The baby will feel happy knowing that he is receiving all the necessary vitamins and minerals for his growth and development.
There are many ways to add new flavor. It’s a good way to introduce babies to different flavors and spices. Incorporate some cinnamon and curry powder in her carrots.
You now know the benefits of buying a baby-food maker. Here are the top ones and the information you need to be aware of before you make a decision.
These are the Best Baby Food Making Machines in 2022
1. BEABA Babycook 4in1 Solo Baby Food Maker.
Beaba Babycook 4in1 is a top-rated baby food machine that’s known for its reliability, safety and efficiency. The best baby food maker on the marketplace, they are. Although it may be a little more expensive than the other choices, we feel it is well worth it. The BEABA looks and works great. This large, 4.7-cup container allows for multiple portions of food to be stored in one bowl. It is easy to use with 1 hand. That means you can carry your baby around while steaming, pureeing and defrosting your food. The water reservoir on the side that holds water for steaming is stainless steel rather than plastic, and all surfaces that come in contact with food are BPA, lead, and phthalate free. It’s easy-to-clean, user-friendly, and very reliable. Our surprise was the quietness of the motor when pureeing our baby food using the baby blender. And how well the steaming turned out. Place your cut veggies or fruits into the basket. Once the steaming is complete, simply turn the knob to activate the steamer. After the steaming process is completed, which takes between 13 and 15 minutes, place your freshly cut vegetables or fruits into the basket. Next, pour the boiling water in to the bowl. Turn the knob until smooth purees are created. It was intuitive to us that the knob and button were easy to operate. And we used it to make baby puree and blend some frozen fruits and veggies as well, to make ourselves a little smoothie. This little blender worked pretty well. Beware: If your baby food maker includes steaming, you will see mineral deposits. Beaba has suggested that we use vinegar to help with the scaling of our water tanks every couple months. It comes with a 1-year guarantee and excellent customer service. Beaba Babycook – Who doesn’t love it? The Beaba Babycook is loved by Babylist and Babygearlab as well as WhatToExpect. Interested? 2. Babymoov duo meal station baby food maker
The product is brand new this year. Our hands were on the device in January and began testing it. The Babymoov Duo Meal Station is an amazing and highly functional top-rated baby food machine. It also has some great functionality. Babymoov Duo Meal Station has the unique ability to support simultaneous steaming or blending. It allows for you steam one food while steaming another. This is great for cooking two different food items at the same time. So, for example, steaming green peas in the microwave while steaming sweet potatoes takes about four minutes. Once the steam has started, the steaming time of the sweet potatoes was about 10 minutes. This method allowed us blend the peas as well as steam the sweet potatoes. It’s a wonderful flexibility feature for busy kitchens. This baby food maker is the most powerful on our list. We can prepare as many as 9 cups at once. This is equivalent to 25 meals per baby. You can make a smaller amount of food if you do not need it. For smaller jobs and for larger ones, it worked very well. The steamer was powerful and easy you use: add some water to the bottom until the light turns off, set the timer and you’re ready to go.
The baby food blender was strong and had a sharp blade. It also featured three speed settings. This blender is distinguished from the Babymoov Nutribaby below by its ability to blend and steam simultaneously and the three speed setting. We liked the bright LED screen and intuitive interface. BPA (and lead, and phthalate)-free components make it easy to clean. It’s not number one on our list. The next year it could be, but for now, this must prove its worth. You might also find that it is too big for small kitchens. This baby food maker is about half the price of the Beaba Babycook. If you have enough space this one should be a good choice. This is an outstanding baby food machine that we recommend highly! Babymoov is loved by everyone! Babylist and WhatToExpect consider it to be a top-rated product! Interested? You can check out this Babymoov Duo here 3. Evla’s Baby Food Maker.
This is a brand-new product on the U.S. baby food market. The unit has a very small footprint and small capacity, which makes it ideal for smaller kitchens and smaller quantities of food. The simplicity of the unit is more important than its size. Technically it is a 4-in1 baby foods maker. That means it steams and blends, but also has the ability to reheat, defrost and defrost. It is convenient, but it does not differ from the majority of other options on this list. The capacity is relatively small, about 300 grams or 2 cups, making it the smallest of the bunch. It’s design, feel and function are almost identical to the Beaba Babycook. With a low profile shape and large, easily-used button in the center, it has an elegant and minimalist look. We found it very easy to use with only one hand: you simply turn the button to steam or blend and push the button to start. It is dishwasher safe. You can remove the blade from the container for thorough cleaning. BPA and lead-free components are not found in any of the parts that will come in contact with food. Other things that we liked were the quiet motor, the easy refilling of the water reservoir and the small space taken up by the unit on our already cramped counter. Because this is a newcomer to the baby food maker category, we do not have extensive experience with it. Our limited testing of the device for about a week revealed that it was quite capable, and is a formidable competitor for this niche. While it isn’t huge, this model could be a good choice if that’s all you need. The model will be tested over the next 6-12 month and then we’ll report on its reliability. This is a good sign that it could climb even higher in our top ten list. Overall, a great option, and we found it for about $90. Who else loves the QOOC baby food maker? The Wirecutter and WhatToExpect both love it! Interested? Check out this QOOC 4-in-1 Mini. Elechomes Baby Food Maker.
We’re always excited about newcomers to the baby product market, and this Bubos baby food maker is an awesome example. This all-in-1 steamer/food processor was available for purchase late last year. We were impressed with its quality, features and versatility. It cost us about $90 to test. Bubos have the ability to steam, sterilize. blend, chop and defrost. Out of the box, the system is a little complicated to figure out, there are a lot of different plastic parts and we needed to read the manual a couple times and look online to figure out exactly how to use the system. When we finally got it working, we were impressed. This steaming method is flexible. It can hold up to 3 different food levels. There are three sizes of stacking baskets. The bottom is the largest at 750mL, followed by the medium (350mL) and then the small (150mL). You can also use the tower height to place bottles in sterilizing, reheating, or warming them when they are stacking on top of one another. So, this serves as a steamer, bottle sterilizer, and bottle warmer. You can also check our review of top baby bottle warmers. Once our sweet potatoes were steamed (about 15 minutes later), we tested out the blender to make a delicious puree – and it worked really well, the blade was super sharp and it pureed the potatoes in less than a minute or so. The clean-up was simple. You can also put your steaming baskets and mixing bowl in the dishwasher. This dishwasher has many safety features. For example, it can turn off automatically if there’s too much water in its reservoir. We love it, and we’ve been using it for just a few days without issues. We won’t push this item up until the baby food maker has proven its worth over time. The Bubos Baby Food Maker was purchased online for $90. BEABA Babycook Neo Baby Food Maker.
This is the baby food maker everyone wants to love, with its sleek European-made styling, glass bowl, stainless steel steaming basket, high capacity (5.5 cups), large and easy to clean water reservoir, and versatile cooking options. And when we got our hands on it for testing, we wanted to love it too! It is high-quality, beautiful, easy to assemble, and very user-friendly. The first time we used it, the sweet potato, peas and spinach were steamed and then pureed. They turned out fantastic! A steaming option is available, as well. In our testing, we also tested the defrost-reheat feature. The stainless steel puree/blend blade was sharp and efficient. It blended the entire food in the blender without leaving any pieces around the bowl’s edges. The glass baby food makers were quieter than the plastic ones. It is likely that glass has better insulation (sound, temperature) properties than plastic. Glass is great for parents worried about BPA or phthalates leaching into their food during steaming. Stainless steel steaming pans also solve this problem. But just like with glass baby bottles, using glass with plastic can introduce some fitment options especially after repeated warming or dishwashing of the parts. Specifically, the plastic lid didn’t fit the glass bowl perfectly after a while, and the plastic handle of the bowl started to separate a bit from the bowl. It’s not a major issue, but it is worth noting. There is also the possibility of glass breaking if you quickly heat glass. This happens when there are a lot of frozen vegetables or fruits in the glass. Once the glass has cooled, you can heat the steam to heat up the glass and it will crack. We didn’t experience this in our testing. However, Beaba had just completed recalling the first batch their Neo baby foodmakers due to broken glass bowls. As of early 2020, the Neo models being shipped from Amazon appear to use the new glass bowl that was issued after the recall. A major problem with this baby foods maker is its outrageous price. At $250 it seems ridiculous. Even though the maker uses stainless steel and glass, we think that is absurd. Given the current market price, a price point of between $150-175 may be more affordable. Overall, you’re getting a very stylish and functional baby food maker with some clear advantages over most other models, but with the risk of glass breakage and a very steep price tag. Interested? Have you considered the Beaba Neo? Baby Brezza Glass 4-cup Food Maker.
Overall, this 4-cup unit, which is the same size as the Cuisinart (4 cups), is decent in capacity and is very easy to use. These are great features! It has a simple button for steaming or blending. You fill the reservoir, pour your food into the bowl, close the lid, and press Steam + Blend. You will have fresh steamed or pureed veggies and fruits ready in about 10 minutes. You can also steam and blend your vegetables using separate buttons. Also, the water reservoir, which can be easily removed for cleaning and filling, is another fantastic feature. In our testing, we really appreciated this feature and thought it set a new precedent for other baby food makers to follow. You can also see how long is left before you are able to enjoy your food. We received a lot of requests to review this model when it first appeared on the market. It is the only steamer/blender that can use a glass bowl. You don’t have to worry about the safety of your baby’s food and whether it is BPA-free. The glass bowl eliminates the need to worry about this issue, making it an ideal addition for baby food manufacturers. Of course, that glass bowl and the blade are dishwasher safe. Overall, this is an excellent baby food maker option that you will certainly be happy with. We have only one concern about this model. There are several reports that it is not reliable after just a few months. While we were happy to use our tester unit for six months with no problems, more recent tests have revealed some odd issues. For instance, the display sometimes shows erroneous information, and water sometimes leaks from the base. The overall quality of this baby foodmaker is excellent. It will probably climb on the bestsellers list if its reliability improves over time. It can be purchased for as low as $150. Baby Brezza makes Baby Brezza Formula Pro, which can make your baby formula perfect and then put it into any of your favourite bottles. The Baby Brezza foodmaker is a great idea. Babylist, Babygearlab, and other Babylist friends call it a great choice! Interested? The Baby Brezza foodmaker can be viewed here. Nutribullet Magic Bullet Baby Bullet Baby Care System.
Baby Bullet is a pioneer in baby food blenders, and it was the first to target new parents. It includes a baby cookbook and baby food storage containers (fridge/freezer), as well as a cup and feeding spoon. It also boasts the cute smiley face on the front to make you think there’s something really special about this blender. The Magic Bullet changed its name to the NutriBullet in the following years. There were some slight improvements made over the original model. With its cute cup and handles, as well as storage cups and a baby-friendly plastic container, Nutribullet’s baby food maker, Nutribullet, is undoubtedly adorable. These little cups, which are just the right size for freezing, fit perfectly into the silicone storage holder. NutriBullet comes in a box that we love! The NutriBullet looks fantastic and blends steam-softened vegetables and fruits with a 200 watt motor. It also has a sharp knife. Getting through grittier foods such as broccoli, or foods that aren’t as thoroughly steamed, the NutriBullet tends to underperform relative to its more powerful peers. The NutriBullet doesn’t have any steam capabilities. It is not possible to steam vegetables and fruits with this unit. We think that this is the biggest drawback of this system. This limitation is combined with major concerns over the long-term quality and reliability of the motor’s rubber seals and it becomes a serious problem. Although we experienced no problems during our test, other NutriBullet owners who have been using it for over six to ten months have reported that their NutriBullet has failing rubber seals. These can cause the NutriBullet to disintegrate, and sometimes even enter the food as it is being cooked. While our friends at Babylist and the Wirecutter consider it a top pick (though it’s unclear if they tested it themselves), we suggest considering an all-in-one steamer and blender that doesn’t have these reliability issues. Interested? Check out NutriBullet’s baby food maker, here 11 Cuisinart BFM-1000 Baby Food Maker.
Just like with ordinary food processors and steamer systems, there are reports of smoking motors, melting plastics, quickly dulled blades, breaking clips, and other various defects. Some of the systems have more issues with this, whereas other systems are consistently reliable and carry great warranties that are reliably honored. Each of the recommended systems has a history of reliability and customer satisfaction. If you don’t do these three things, any baby food machine that has a steaming option will cause scaling and discoloration.
Do not use tap water. You can be lazy and use tap water, but your system will soon become soiled in the heating element and water reservoir.
You can also clean the water reservoir frequently with white vinegar and baby bottles brush.
Third, after every 5-10 uses or so, fill the water reservoir with white vinegar and run the system through its entire cycle. The vinegar will stop nasty sludge or mold buildup inside the tank and on the heating element. Even the absolute best baby food steamers, like the Beaba and Babymoov will have terrible reviews on Amazon and other sites from parents who didn’t follow the instructions to use distilled water and clean the unit on a regular basis.
Transportability and storage
How do you use all of the great food you have been steaming, puréeing, and blending? You should not fill those additional baby bottles with food, it will only make things worse! Parents usually put the food into small freezer-safe containers (like these awesome ones by OXO ) and take them out as needed. There is another method that’s becoming more popular. You know those fun squeezable pouches of baby food? Plum Organics’ popular pouches of baby food?
Imagine if these could be made at your home. Infantino now has a new squeeze station that makes this possible. Simply steam and puree your food in one of our favorite food makers below, and then use the squeeze station to pour the puree into those awesome squeezable pouches. This is a great portable option for baby food making. Your toddler will be able to take over the cooking and the pouches won’t need any extra help. Interested in this option, get more info by clicking the picture to the right.

The Baby Brezza makes a good investment for those who know they will often make their own baby food. The Baby Brezza also allows you to control exactly what your child eats. The downside is that it’s quite expensive. If you aren’t sure if you will use it, you can wait to purchase one. March 9, 2021
