This is a brand-new product on the U.S. baby food market. The unit has a very small footprint and small capacity, which makes it ideal for smaller kitchens and smaller quantities of food. The simplicity of the unit is more important than its size. Technically it is a 4-in1 baby foods maker. That means it steams and blends, but also has the ability to reheat, defrost and defrost. It is convenient, but it does not differ from the majority of other options on this list. The capacity is relatively small, about 300 grams or 2 cups, making it the smallest of the bunch. It’s design, feel and function are almost identical to the Beaba Babycook. With a low profile shape and large, easily-used button in the center, it has an elegant and minimalist look. We’re always excited about newcomers to the baby product market, and this Bubos baby food maker is an awesome example. This all-in-1 steamer/food processor was available for purchase late last year. We were impressed with its quality, features and versatility. It cost us about $90 to test. Bubos have the ability to steam, sterilize. blend, chop and defrost. Out of the box, the system is a little complicated to figure out, there are a lot of different plastic parts and we needed to read the manual a couple times and look online to figure out exactly how to use the system. When we finally got it working, we were impressed. This steaming method is flexible. It can hold up to 3 different food levels. There are three sizes of stacking baskets. The bottom is the largest at 750mL, followed by the medium (350mL) and then the small (150mL). You can also use the tower height to place bottles in sterilizing, reheating, or warming them when they are stacking on top of one another. So, this serves as a steamer, bottle sterilizer, and bottle warmer. You can also check our review of top baby bottle warmers. Once our sweet potatoes were steamed (about 15 minutes later), we tested out the blender to make a delicious puree – and it worked really well, the blade was super sharp and it pureed the potatoes in less than a minute or so. For example, it can turn off automatically if there’s too much water in its reservoir. We love it, and we’ve been using it for just a few days without issues. This is the baby food maker everyone wants to love, with its sleek European-made styling, glass bowl, stainless steel steaming basket, high capacity (5.5 cups), large and easy to clean water reservoir, and versatile cooking options. And when we got our hands on it for testing, we wanted to love it too! It is high-quality, beautiful, easy to assemble, and very user-friendly. The first time we used it, the sweet potato, peas and spinach were steamed and then pureed. They turned out fantastic! A steaming option is available, as well. In our testing, we also tested the defrost-reheat feature. The stainless steel puree/blend blade was sharp and efficient. It blended the entire food in the blender without leaving any pieces around the bowl’s edges. The glass baby food makers were quieter than the plastic ones. It is likely that glass has better insulation (sound, temperature) properties than plastic. Glass is great for parents worried about BPA or phthalates leaching into their food during steaming. Stainless steel steaming pans also solve this problem. But just like with glass baby bottles, using glass with plastic can introduce some fitment options especially after repeated warming or dishwashing of the parts. Specifically, the plastic lid didn’t fit the glass bowl perfectly after a while, and the plastic handle of the bowl started to separate a bit from the bowl. It’s not a major issue, but it is worth noting. There is also the possibility of glass breaking if you quickly heat glass. This happens when there are a lot of frozen vegetables or fruits in the glass. Once the glass has cooled, you can heat the steam to heat up the glass and it will crack. We didn’t experience this in our testing. However, Beaba had just completed recalling the first batch their Neo baby foodmakers due to broken glass bowls. As of early 2020, the Neo models being shipped from Amazon appear to use the new glass bowl that was issued after the recall. A major problem with this baby foods maker is its outrageous price. At $250 it seems ridiculous. Even though the maker uses stainless steel and glass, we think that is absurd. Given the current market price, a price point of between $150-175 may be more affordable. We received a lot of requests to review this model when it first appeared on the market. It is the only steamer/blender that can use a glass bowl. You don’t have to worry about the safety of your baby’s food and whether it is BPA-free. The glass bowl eliminates the need to worry about this issue, making it an ideal addition for baby food manufacturers. Of course, that glass bowl and the blade are dishwasher safe. Overall, this is an excellent baby food maker option that you will certainly be happy with. We have only one concern about this model. There are several reports that it is not reliable after just a few months. While we were happy to use our tester unit for six months with no problems, more recent tests have revealed some odd issues. For instance, the display sometimes shows erroneous information, and water sometimes leaks from the base. The overall quality of this baby foodmaker is excellent. Baby Bullet is a pioneer in baby food blenders, and it was the first to target new parents. It includes a baby cookbook and baby food storage containers (fridge/freezer), as well as a cup and feeding spoon. It also boasts the cute smiley face on the front to make you think there’s something really special about this blender. The Magic Bullet changed its name to the NutriBullet in the following years. There were some slight improvements made over the original model. With its cute cup and handles, as well as storage cups and a baby-friendly plastic container, Nutribullet’s baby food maker, Nutribullet, is undoubtedly adorable. Reliability

Just like with ordinary food processors and steamer systems, there are reports of smoking motors, melting plastics, quickly dulled blades, breaking clips, and other various defects. Some of the systems have more issues with this, whereas other systems are consistently reliable and carry great warranties that are reliably honored. Each of the recommended systems has a history of reliability and customer satisfaction. If you don’t do these three things, any baby food machine that has a steaming option will cause scaling and discoloration.

Do not use tap water. You can be lazy and use tap water, but your system will soon become soiled in the heating element and water reservoir.

You can also clean the water reservoir frequently with white vinegar and baby bottles brush.

Third, after every 5-10 uses or so, fill the water reservoir with white vinegar and run the system through its entire cycle. The vinegar will stop nasty sludge or mold buildup inside the tank and on the heating element. Even the absolute best baby food steamers, like the Beaba and Babymoov will have terrible reviews on Amazon and other sites from parents who didn’t follow the instructions to use distilled water and clean the unit on a regular basis.
