I Put Three Of The New ‘Discreet’ Breast Pumps To The Test

The disadvantages of electric breast pumps is that women historically have only two options: the Spectra Medela or the Spectra Medela. [Editor’s Note: We’ve previously written about the Spectra] But neither one of these could be described as discreet nor portable. Also, the Medela evokes a cow-milk experience. Three new options for breast pumps were introduced in recent years. Each promises a discrete, discreet and portable option that is easy to use, while you continue your daily life. So I decided to call the major brands (alongside the Naya which was actually my least favorite) and test each one.
, it’s the same pump under a different name), and I found it to be the easiest to clean of the three. It is also the cheapest. It doesn’t require any hands unlike some breast pumps (like Naya). It can be worn with any type of nursing bra and you can easily move about while it’s on. Although this is not a big pro, it can charge with standard micro-USB adapters, which even my sleep-deprived mind can find. A great thing was the eco-friendly feature that the pump can be used directly to pour milk into bottles or bags.
Cons: The setup was challenging. I had to call customer support. The tube that fuels it is long so it kind of got in the path. Also, the tubes are not as discreet as some other hand-free options. It isn’t as intelligent. This makes it difficult to use. The one I tried was the least natural looking, making it stand out a lot more than other models.
There are many types of pumps, and some have different power sources. The style that suits you best depends on what you do with it and how often you will use it.
Hospital Grade: When you give birth to your baby in a hospital, the pump is likely located in that room. This allows you to continue using the pump while you are recovering. These pumps are considered hospital grade because they’re more powerful and designed to handle constant use, and they’re often larger and less portable. They are most likely to be found in hospitals. However, they can also be purchased or rented by anyone. Because they are a great financial investment, many rent them.
These manual breast pumps can be carried in your purse or in your car for when you are unable to use your electric pump. Each model will require that you manually power the pump with your hand. Typically, these are single pumps which means that you have to pump each breast separately.
These pumps are the most widely used. They use electric power from either batteries, USB ports or an outlet to operate the motor. Most of them are similar to hospital-grade but smaller for portability and general ease of use. However, some of the more modern models attach to breasts so you can pump while moving about.
Milk Catchers These aren’t actually pumps, but they’re designed to collect your milk throughout the day so you don’t waste a single drop. It’s designed to replace your breast pads and collect any milk that leaks during the day.
Depending on the style pump you get, Ward suggests considering the following questions: “What kind of power source does the pump require? Do you need to plug it into the wall or can it be charged with a power cord? Is it possible to recharge the device using a power cable? It can be charged using USB. Is it able to charge via USB? What is the life expectancy of the batteries if they are rechargeable?
