For large retailers, employees are expected to adhere to a dress code. This is to allow customers to easily locate the employee and request assistance.
Kroger Dress Code 2022
Kroger employees must wear aprons starting in 2022. They are also prohibited from wearing clothing with visible images, words, abbreviations or logos. Kroger doesn’t have a ban on tattoos, unnatural hair colors or any other restrictions. Kroger employees may wear khaki pants or blue jeans or black jeans without cutting or holes.
Are there uniforms available at Kroger for employees?
Kroger employees must wear an apron while at work to show that they’re serving customers.
Kroger announced a new employee dress code policy for April 2019. All associates must wear a uniform with a rainbow embroidery on the apron.
The apron must be worn with a strap around the neck and tied around the waist at all times while an employee is at work.
Employers can also wear their uniforms, which include shirts with sleeves that are short or long and shirts with sleeves of a solid or tasteful pattern.
Kroger Management clarifies that their uniform policy does not allow for any debate, even though some employees feel that it makes them uncomfortable or funny.

Kroger associates or employees can wear basic colors (blue or black) in good condition, without slits, cuts, frays or holes.
Worker women can wear plain-colored skirts (blue or black or khaki), that don’t have cuts or holes. However, capris and leggings are prohibited.
Shorts are not banned at Kroger as employees often wear them. All pants, shorts and jeans must be kept at the hip or waistline.
Kroger Employees Can Have Tattoos and Piercings
Kroger employees may have tattoos but they are not allowed for personal use, particularly for attendants who are customer facing.
While supervisors can have tattoos on the arms of their employees, it’s best to avoid offensive tattoos.
As for piercings, Kroger does not have any restrictive policy against the use of earrings, nose rings, and other piercings.
However, if you’re up for an interview, you might want to hide the ones that are too obvious and then find out from your co-employees about whether these are permissible when you get the job.
Note that these rules may change slightly if you work with any of the subsidiaries under the Kroger Family of companies.
According to some reports, Fred Meyers employees are prohibited from wearing any other types of piercings than earrings.

Shoes worn by Kroger employees must have closed toes and closed heels for safety purposes, according to Kroger management.
Additionally, all employees in perishables areas must be able to slip resistant shoes and/or crew-guard-over-soles as provided by management.
