Target gift cards offer customers access to thousands of online and in-store products. This makes them great gifts for family and friends, as they allow you to buy whatever you like.

However, sometimes you might want to return a gift card for a variety of reasons. So what is Target’s gift card return policy? This is what I found!

For Target gift cards, return policy in 2022

Target no longer accepts returns on any gift cards, except those purchased before 2022. For a return to be possible, the original receipt will be required. Target’s standard returns policy applies for items bought with a gift card.

What if I want to return a Target giftcard?

Target states on its website that Target GiftCards can’t be returned for any purchases after 10.01.20.

If you have purchased Target GiftCards before October 1, 2021, you can return them to the store if they’re not in use and with a receipt. Target eGiftCards, mobile Target GiftCards, and Target eGiftCards, cannot be returned.

Target’s Specialty Card Return Policy.

Target’s Gift Cards Return Policy states that special gift cards including entertainment or restaurant tickets are not eligible to be returned.

This means that if you purchase one of Target’s specialty gift cards including Apple, eBay and Uber gift certificates, they cannot be returned.

Are there any Visa or MasterCard Returns?

The date you purchased the Visa, MasterCard or American Express gift cards will determine whether or not they can be returned.

If you bought one of these gift cards after 10/1/20, they cannot be returned.

You can return your Target gift cards to Target stores, provided you provide the original purchase receipt.

Do I have to return an item that I purchased with Target Gift Cards?

If you decide to use your Target gift card to make a purchase, you can return the item as normal and receive a refund to the same card.

Please note that returned items cannot be accepted if they are not in good condition. You won’t be issued cash, credit or any other type of card.
